Hi! My name is Lucia, but you can call me Uchy if you want. I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia. For those that don't know where Barranquilla is, this city is located in the north part of Colombia, and is famous because in Barranquilla take place one of the most important national parties, the carnival.
I was born in Barranquilla, but I was living in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, before coming here. I studied psychology at the university in Bogota, I graduated last May and I was working at the Human Resources Office in an organization called Fedegan and I was living with my 22 years old brother, who is studying business administration at the university.
I decided to come here to study English because I think English is a language that many people, from many different countries and cultures know, and I love travel, and it is easier to me speak to others, if I travel to a country where people don’t speak Spanish, if I know how to speak English, also I can get a better job when I come back to Colombia if I speak English, because I don’t know if in others countries it is the same, but in Colombia you can get a better job if you speak more than one language, especially if you speak English.
My goals for this ESL program are, improve my English in the first place, and know the American culture and other cultures through the people, from many different countries, that are doing the ESL program too.

Hi Uchy,
ReplyDeleteBoth Duhwan and Ivan left you great comments! I think your goals sound terrific, and I agree with Ivan that your skills will improve. When you go back to Colombia, do you want to work as a psychologist? Who are your favorite theorists, or what sort of psychology did you major in? Here, there are so many different specializations!
Hi Jess!
ReplyDeleteYes, when i go back to colombia i want to work as a psychologist, but as a organizational psychologist, that's the area of psychology that i like, i think i going to do my major in that area.
Hi Uchy,
ReplyDeleteI find that I also talk about the same topic about your third paragraph in my writing class, that is fun, haha. Let us improve and enhance our English together. Maybe, I can go to travel in your country by speaking English in the future. I think it is interesting.
Have a good day!
